She always keeps in mind the movements of each sport and incorporates that into the treatment plan.
According to the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, athletes' feet and ankles are prime examples of injuries due to the repeated pounding on the pavement and side-to-side motion. From sprains, pain, stress fractures, and nerve irritations, your feet take a beating. At Gurnee Podiatry and Sports Management Association, we aim to treat, prevent, and rehabilitate patients dealing with pain in their feet or ankles. We treat your podiatric condition and discuss the cause of your diagnosis and how you can prevent future reoccurrences.
Our History
More than 30 years ago, Dr. Lisa M. Schoene began the pediatric podiatrist practice with one patient, one staff member, and one doctor. Since then, the practice has grown exponentially to become a holistic center where physical therapists, podiatric associates, and massage therapists work. In addition to traditional podiatric care, we also use acupuncture techniques, chiropractic care, and homeopathic medications to help you recover.
Our Locations
Dr. Schoene owns and operates two convenient locations where you can visit one of our foot specialists. Both offer professional foot care tailored to each specific patient.
The Chicago location is at Sports Medicine Associates, located at 401 W. Ontario St. Suite 240 in the River North Gallery District. You can park at the SP+ Parking station located on the next block or take the No. 37 bus to the Orleans and Erie station just two minutes away. We are open Monday through Thursday starting at 9 a.m. We close at 9 p.m. on Monday, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday, and at 7 p.m. on Thursday. This office also has hours on Saturday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Our other location, referred to as the Park City branch, is north of the city in Gurnee at 351 S. Greenleaf St. Suite C. This office allows us to serve the Lake County townships of Waukegan and Warren. We offer a large on-site parking lot for your convenience. Hours at this location are almost the same as the Chicago location except the Gurnee office closes at 5 p.m. on Monday.
Our Doctors
In practice for more than 30 years within the Chicagoland and Lake County area, Dr. Lisa M. Schoene is a certified athletic trainer who has worked with athletes and takes a special interest in sports medicine and rehabilitation. A podiatrist and sports medicine specialist, she is one of the few physicians in the country to practice both. She has experience working with Olympic, professional, semi-professional, and elite athletes. In 1996, she was one of 17 podiatrists to work the Olympic Games in Atlanta, and she worked the 1994 World Cup games in Chicago.
Dr. Schoene knows how important it is to have the best podiatrists on her staff, so she handpicked two doctors to help her care for patients. At the Chicago location, she works with podiatrist Dr. Bruce Bever, DPM who is a renowned foot specialist doctor as well as a foot and ankle surgeon. For the Gurnee office, she works alongside Dr. Erin Smielewski, who has experience working in diabetic wound care and infectious diseases.
Dr. Bruce Bever, DPM grew up on a small island off the western coast of Florida. He worked as a professional photographer before returning to health care in 2011. He completed his undergraduate work at Rochester Institute of Technology and post-baccalaureate coursework at the National University of Health Sciences. He went on to secure his doctor of podiatric medicine degree at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and a three-year residency at Amita Health Saint Joseph Hospital in Chicago. Dr. Bever is a surgically trained foot and ankle surgeon who has experience in the forefoot and rearfoot surgical procedures.
