Dr. Erin M. Smielewski

Dr. Erin M. Smielewski graduated with honors from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry

Dr. Erin M. Smielewski has been an associate and seeing patients at Gurnee Podiatry and Sports Medicine Assoc. since 2010.

Born and raised in the southwest suburbs of Chicago, she graduated with honors from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She then received her podiatric medical degree from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine while graduating at the top of her class.In addition, she completed her 3-year podiatric surgical residency at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, where she served as chief resident.

She is board qualified in podiatric surgery for forefoot. While in residency she participated in combined rotations with Midland Orthopedics, MacNeal Hospital, Mercy Hospital wound clinic, and outside podiatric clinics. 

She is committed to providing the highest level of care for patients of all ages with foot and ankle pathology.

Dr. Smielewski has extensive experience and training from Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in General and Diabetic Wound care, Limb Salvage, and Infectious Diseases.

She is committed to providing the highest level of care for patients of all ages with foot and ankle pathology. She possesses excellent communication and diagnostic skills that allow her to make a qualified diagnosis and tailor patient specific treatment plans. She is seeing patients at the Park City office and is currently accepting new patients.

Dr. Smielewski is on staff at Northwestern Lake Forest HospitalVista Medical Center East, and Hawthorn Surgery Center. She has professional society memberships with the Illinois Podiatric Medical AssociationAmerican Podiatric Medical AssociationAmerican College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and the American College of Foot and Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine.

Dr. Smielewski is a Diplomat of the American College of Podiatric Medicine. In addition, she stays current with her continuing medical education requirements. Dr. Smielewski participates in local health fairs, community days, and has been a speaker with the local diabetic support group.

She resides in the northwest suburbs with her husband and children.
